Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cairo, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 5 weeks
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Work Schedule: Some weekends and holidays required; minimal to no return to office (RTO)


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum units
  • Manage approximately 210-230 deliveries per year
  • Unit includes 5 labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms and 10 bassinets
  • Start date approximately 3 weeks from offer
  • Use of Cerner EMR and PeriWatch Fetal Monitoring System
  • Must wear Royal Blue scrubs (not provided)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery experience (within the last year)
  • Nursery experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certificate
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Fit test completed onsite at no cost
  • Immunizations and titers required or acceptable declination forms for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for L&D and Mother & Baby)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • TB testing: QGold or TSPOT within 30 days of start (no PPDs accepted); if past positive, chest x-ray within 2 years and TB questionnaire within 30 days required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (9/3–3/31) unless approved medical/religious exemption is granted; mask required if exempt

Documentation and Compliance

  • Two recent supervisor/manager references verified within 12 months (Charge RN references accepted but not preferred)
  • Proof of education (diploma or transcript) required
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN trace, counties, national sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, nationwide checks, and education verification
  • Employment application/resume and skills checklist updated annually
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license
  • Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required
  • Facility-specific health and safety training modules must be completed prior to start date
  • Photo for badge required within 24 hours of signing; must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no selfies, shoulders up, plain background)
  • Various facility-specific forms and agreements may be required and must be completed timely

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the assignment location; candidates outside this radius may be considered with adjusted terms
  • Fingerprinting requirements apply primarily to CNAs; RN candidates should confirm if applicable
  • Start date and assignment length are firm with possible extension
  • Minimal to no return to office (RTO) days expected; must be included on submission

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a short-term travel assignment with night shifts in a hospital setting focused on maternal and newborn care.
