Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse
Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED) facility near downtown with various local amenities.
- Day shift schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM).
- Patient ratios may vary due to high patient volume; expect ratios from 1:4 up to 1:5 or more during surge periods.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, including experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency Contact Form (prior to start).
- Background checks including:
- 7-year location history search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM verification (annual)
- HHS/OIG verification (annual)
- Education verification
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state requirement, annual).
- Facility-specific documents including:
- Photo for badge (headshot, plain background, no head coverings)
- Signed job description and welcome packet acknowledgment
- Omnicell form (for nursing staff)
- Completion of online learning modules prior to first shift
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (N95 or equivalent respirators).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted).
- Immunization or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September 1 – March 31).
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required.
- Annual competency exams as applicable, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (required for ED staff, expires every 3 years)
- Skills checklist required annually.
- Two professional references within 3 years for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles.
