Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Shift: Evening (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
• Specialty: Medical Surgical nursing

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background checks must be current within 30 days of assignment start and include:

  • 7-year county checks with alias/all names search
  • National federal and USA criminal searches if applicable
  • Social Security trace
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, sex offender search
• Education verification through the school or National Student Clearinghouse for highest degree
• Diploma or official transcript required (transcript acceptable as placeholder if diploma unavailable)
• Two supervisory references required, at least one within the last year, both from the specialty area
• Employment verification covering the last 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
• Iowa-specific:

  • SING check (State of Iowa background check) must be run directly through Iowa State SING website within 30 days of start, including all aliases
  • Mandatory Reporter Certification for Child Abuse and Dependent Adult Abuse through Iowa HHS website, with valid certifications required

Orientation and Training

• Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to start (temporarily onsite as of July 2024)
• HIPAA Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment, renewed annually
• Mandatory Reporter training and certification valid for 3-5 years depending on completion date
• Facility-specific “Learning Lessons” must be completed prior to start; candidates will receive instructions via email

Additional Notes

• Candidate must provide a copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued ID (passport, driver’s license, or state ID) with a clear photo
• All required documentation and certifications must be current and verifiable prior to assignment start
• Candidates must sign facility-specific memorandums and exemption request forms as applicable (e.g., COVID and flu exemptions)
