Work Schedule

• Night shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend plus every other holiday
• On-call requirement: 3 times per 6-week scheduling period
• Floating required within scope to ER, Adult ICU Stepdown, pediatric unit, and floors
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion

Job Description

• Provide respiratory care in NICU and adult units including ER, ICU Stepdown, floors, and pediatric units
• NICU assignments vary by acuity; this is not a NICU-only position
• Respiratory care duties include airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gases (ABGs), oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
• Night shift requires ability to provide aerosol, bronchial hygiene, lung inflation therapies, and arterial blood gas draw and analysis
• Experience preferred in NICU, ED, adult ICU, emergency department, and level 2 trauma care
• Attendance at monthly department meetings required (or acknowledgment of meeting minutes if not working)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
• Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience working with adult patients
• Experience in an acute care setting
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in NICU, ED, adult ICU, emergency department, and level 2 trauma center preferred but not mandatory

Additional Requirements

• Must provide 2 professional references from supervisors or managers within the last 2 years (outside of this facility if previously employed here)
• Background checks including lifetime criminal, education verification, and federal/state registries required
• Drug screening within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
• Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination or declination allowed)
• TB testing or questionnaire as applicable
• Fit mask (N95) certification required and must be current
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 – 3/31)
• COVID vaccination documentation required or declination form
• Completion of facility-specific orientation, confidentiality, code of conduct, and Epic experience screening forms prior to start
• Completion of competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required
• Attendance at monthly department meetings or acknowledgment of minutes if not working
