Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Utica, New York

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med Surg)

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Patient Ratio:
    • Med/Surg Days: 1:5-6
    • Med/Surg Nights: 1:6-7
  • Local Radius: 75 miles
  • Return to Office (RTO): Only one holiday allowed; total time off 7 days or less

Requirements

  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • New York RN license
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) strongly preferred
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required for ER staff
    • NIH Stroke Certification required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor Med/Surg Unit
    • NY Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (annual)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg specialty
  • Skills:
    • EPIC electronic medical record experience required
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor Med/Surg Unit (expires every 3 years)
    • Color Blind Testing prior to start
    • Competency exams as applicable to profession
  • Health & Safety:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold acceptable; Tspot not accepted)
    • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
    • Pneumonia vaccination or declination required
  • Background Checks:
    • Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually
    • Education verification required
    • Florida Education Audit Confirmation for RN/LPN staff
  • References:
    • 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
    • 1 professional reference for per diem non-acute care roles
  • Additional Facility Requirements:
    • Review and sign facility-specific job description and welcome packet
    • Submit appropriate photo for badge (headshot, plain background, no head coverings)
    • Complete online learning modules prior to first shift
    • Sign Omnicell form (nursing staff)
    • Pneumococcal declination form if declining vaccine
