Job Opportunity: Travel Pharmacist

Schedule

• 7 days on, 7 days off
• 10-hour night shifts (9:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Arizona pharmacist license in good standing
• IV admixture and sterile compounding certificates required
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP certifications as applicable
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience as an inpatient hospital pharmacist (night shift experience preferred)
• Previous charge experience required
• Meditech electronic documentation experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and participate in pharmaceutical services related to drug preparation and dispensing
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding drug dispensing and record maintenance
• Plan and schedule shift work, ensuring proper assignments and adequate staffing
• Train new staff members
• Compile charges for prescriptions filled and maintain accountability and cost records
• Interface with medical staff regarding pharmaceutical supplies, formulary, drug usage, and regulations
• Compound, package, and label ointments, solutions, and bulk pharmaceutical supplies per standard formulas
• Mix prescribed drugs with intravenous solutions as required
• Maintain and support hospital formulary and inventory; reorder and stock drugs and supplies

Patient Ratio

• Hospital census: 130-150 patients per day

Required Documents & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Background checks including 7-year work/living history, sex offender, education verification
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Copy of transcript or diploma (or NSCH verification)
• Facility-specific forms and agreements (security, confidentiality, behavioral expectations, HIPAA, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Two professional references within 3 years
• Annual skills checklist

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Pharmacist license in Arizona
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacist experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• IV Admixture Certificate
• Sterile Compounding Certificate
