Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Medical-Surgical

Location: Urbana, Illinois

Hours: 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to cardiovascular medical-surgical patients, including post-operative care for CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients. Responsible for patient assessment, plan of care development, implementation of nursing interventions, and maintaining patient and employee safety.

Key Responsibilities

Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of practice.
Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care.
Implement and modify nursing care plans based on ongoing patient evaluation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Conduct hourly rounding on patients.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Identify personal learning needs and pursue professional development.
Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Proactively assist internal and external customers as needed.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
Minimum 3 years of Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Medical-Surgical nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

Specialty Focus

Cardiovascular Medical-Surgical nursing care, including postoperative management of CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients.
