Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Schedule patients for hospital transportation and coordinate with anesthesia, med/surg teams, inpatient chemo pharmacy, and ICU to minimize patient delays.
- Create procedural orders as needed and confirm patient identity and consent.
- Monitor lab values and procedure contraindications, communicating variances to the attending physician.
- Maintain documentation of procedures, supplies used, and procedural details such as biopsy passes, intravascular pressure measurements, fluoroscopy time, sedation, and contrast usage.
- Ensure accurate procedural coding and perform image manipulation and transmission from fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and IVUS units.
- Import prior CT scan data for real-time roadmapping during aortic repair and record endovascular repair data.
- Operate multi-modality imaging equipment including fluoroscopic, ultrasound, CT, IVUS, power injector, AngioJet, Penumbra, EKOS, CT fusion, iGuide technology, radiofrequency, microwave, and cryoablation devices.
- Perform portable interventional procedures using ultrasound equipment.
- Support clinical partners during intra-operative cases requiring interventional radiology equipment.
- Conduct image post-processing, quality assurance, system checks, and equipment cleaning.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate malfunctions to supervisors.
- Provide patient care including explaining exams, positioning patients, assisting with hemodynamic monitoring, sterile preparation, first assist during procedures, administration and documentation of regulated pharmaceuticals, radiation protection, and post-procedural dressing application.
- Ensure proper handling and delivery of anatomic or foreign body specimens.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in North Carolina
- Radiology Technologist with 0 years of experience
- Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT certification with maintained registry status and annual continuing education
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider OR Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Interventional Radiology Technologist experience
- Vascular Technologist experience
