Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• 32 beds total: 22 stepdown beds and 10 floor beds
• Patient population includes cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, medicine, and hospitalist med-surg patients
• RN-to-patient ratios: 1:3 in stepdown and 1:5 to 1:6 on the floor

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Stepdown experience
• Med-surg/tele experience
• EPIC experience
• Ability to titrate drips

Preferred Experience

• Cardiac experience

Clinical Responsibilities

• Care for stepdown and floor patients
• Titrate drips such as heparin, insulin, nitro, Cardizem, nicardipine, Lasix, amiodarone, and dobutamine
• Work with respiratory support equipment including nasal cannula, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, and trach-to-vent patients

Scheduling and Coverage

• Self-scheduling is used and block scheduling is generally allowed
• Weekend coverage includes scheduled Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and other weekend days as assigned
• Holiday coverage includes one eve and one day holiday shift
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating is required, with the traveler first to be pulled off the unit if needed

Additional Details

• Royal blue scrubs are required
• Unit orientation is provided
• Any license hits must be disclosed at time of submission
