Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Transitional Care Unit
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 0700-1930 (12-hour shifts)
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required by facility staffing needs
Call Requirements: None
Unit Overview
- Cardiac Transitional Care Unit (Heart & Vascular Recovery)
- 8-bed unit caring for critically ill patients pre- and post-cardiac procedures (including electrophysiology and cath lab patients)
- Patient population includes post-procedural cardiac patients and STEMI post-care patients
- Patient ratios vary, approximately 1:4 to 1:5 during day shifts
- Equipment includes general monitoring and EKG
- Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Care for patients pre- and post-invasive cardiac procedures, including cardiac cath lab and electrophysiology patients
- Maintain professional accountability for patient care and evaluate care effectiveness
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
- Perform duties consistent with nursing practice standards, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and organizational mission and values
- May float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and occasional kneeling or crouching
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor
- Preferred experience with TR bands and pulling sheaths
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
- Experience in cardiac stepdown units
- Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in cardiac stepdown or ICU settings
- Experience with TR bands and sheath removal preferred

- Compassionate, empathetic, team-oriented, detail-focused, reliable, and hardworking personality fit
- Dress code: black scrubs and closed-toe shoes required; other attire is unacceptable
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination is mandatory for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- The unit cares for patients with complex cardiac needs requiring critical care nursing skills
- The role requires adherence to high standards of patient care and organizational service standards
