Responsibilities:In your role, you will:
- Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures.
- Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information. Reload prior exams for comparison.
- Explain the examination process to the patient. Instruct and assist the patient in assuming the physical position for examination and throughout the procedure.
- Assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Select a transducer and adjust the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of test. Move transducer over a specified area of the body and observe sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
Education
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
Fulfill prerequisite of American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification required
Experience
1 year of clinical experience in diagnostic medical sonography and ability to demonstrate required competency required
Demonstrated ability to perform all exams based on facility requirements required
Licenses and Certifications
BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required

RDMS(AB) - ARDMS RDMS Abdomen
RDMS(OB) - ARDMS RDMS OB/GYN
RVT - ARDMS Registered Vascular Tech
ARRT(S) - ARRT Sonography
ARRT(VS) - ARRT Vascular Sonography
RVS - CCI Registered Vascular Specialist
