Overview

• Role: Med Surg/Tele RN (Registered Nurse)
• Location: Middletown, Connecticut
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Start date: 3/17 (ASAP)
• Unit: Medical North 4, 26 beds

Schedule

• Shift: Nights, 7p-7:30a, 3x12s
• Hours: 36 hours per week (overtime after 48 hours)
• Weekends: Every other weekend (EOW), a must. Must work the whole weekend, including Sundays.
• Holidays: Every other holiday
• Orientation: 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation

Unit Details

• Patient population: General medical
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:3-4, Nights 1:7-8
• Charge nurse: Shared with North 6
• Nurse aides: 1:8
• Telemetry: Not on this unit
• Ventilators: CPAP at HS only
• Hospitalist: 24/7 in house
• Respiratory therapy: 24/7; nurses perform all respiratory treatments
• Pharmacy: 24/7
• IV team: Available 7am-8:30pm (nurses must try first); Nurse Resource available 24/7 for IV help from 7pm-7am
• Scrub color: Caribbean blue. Black or white shirts may be worn under a uniform top, which must be the uniform color. Pants may be black or Caribbean blue.

Required Qualifications

• Connecticut RN license
• 2 years of experience
• Prior travel experience required (does not take first-time travelers)
• BLS required (AHA or ARC)
• ACLS and NIHSS (listed in the source's certification details)
• Ability to work 48 hours
• Must work EOW, including Sundays
• Must be able to start on the listed orientation dates
• Cannot work another job while applying for or during this assignment
• No RTO within the first two weeks of the start date; minimal RTO overall
• Accurate, detailed, and up-to-date profile

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
