ICU Registered Nurse

Location

• Tulsa, Oklahoma

Contract Length

• 16 weeks

Schedule

• 3x12-hour nights
• Shift times: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM or 6:30 AM–7:00 PM
• Weekend requirement: at least 6 weekend shifts in each 6-week block
• No call or standby requirement

Required Qualifications

• Active RN role in ICU
• Minimum of 3 years of ICU experience
• No first-time travelers
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Recent hospital acute care experience in the specialty area
• EPIC experience within the last year
• One supervisor reference from the most recent or current assignment
• Must provide date of birth and Social Security number
• Must disclose whether the clinician has ever worked for the facility

Unit Details

• 23-bed ICU
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
• Mixed medical-surgical and thoracic/cardiovascular ICU
• Common patient types include respiratory failure, ARDS, CHF, COPD, post-STEMI, post-arrest, post-surgical, CABG, carotid, DKA, GI bleed, overdose, ETOH withdrawal, CVA with or without TNK, and renal failure
• No trauma, hemorrhagic strokes, or neuro surgery
• Nurses may care for IABP, Impella, CRRT, or open-heart recovery patients if competency is established and verified
• Nurses are responsible for EKG monitoring and interpretation
• Nurses are expected to draw their own labs and perform EKGs
• Travelers float first and may be assigned a patient team of up to 5 patients

Orientation

• 8 hours of non-billable orientation
• Two unit orientation shifts
• Day 1 includes classroom and unit orientation
• Day 2 is a 12-hour precepted unit shift

Additional Information

• Black scrubs required
• Holiday work is at manager discretion; holiday time off is not approved
• Zero tolerance for license or background hits
• Teaching facility with expected professional conduct
• No tube station
• Support staff is available 24/7, but not assigned to the ICU
