RN Med Surg/Critical Care Unit

Overview

• 13-week contract in Aberdeen, South Dakota
• 12-hour shifts, day/night rotation available
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• SD RN or multistate compact RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification

Preferred

• 2 years of CCU experience
• Prior Med/Surg or ED experience
• CCRN
• TNCC

Schedule

• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• No call requirement
• 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts per week
• Open to a 48-hour guarantee if desired

Unit Details

• CCU has 8 private rooms
• Critical care patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2
• Med/Surg overflow patients in CCU are 1:4
• May float to Med/Surg if CCU census is low

Clinical Setting

• Provides care for critically ill adolescent (16+) through geriatric medical/surgical patients
• Uses EPIC One Chart computerized charting
• Uses PLUM IV smart pumps
• Unit equipment includes central lines, arterial lines, ventilators, IABP, and an overhead patient lift system

Orientation

• 2 days of hospital orientation
• 1 to 2 days of unit-specific orientation
