Join a Fast-Paced Observation & Short Stay Unit
We're seeking an experienced PCU RN for an 8-bed Short Stay Unit at a respected Level II Trauma Center in Wausau, WI. This unit is ideal for nurses with a strong Telemetry, Observation, or Med/Surg Tele background who thrive in a dynamic environment with frequent admissions and discharges.

Unit Overview
- 8-bed Short Stay/Observation Unit
- Patient ratio: 1:4
- Average patient stay up to 48 hours
- High volume of admissions and discharges
- Epic EMR
Patient Population
Common diagnoses include:
- Anemia
- Cellulitis
- COPD
- Dehydration
- Pre- and Post-Op Urology Patients
- GI Patients
Drip experience preferred:
- Cardizem
- Nitroglycerin
- Insulin
- Heparin
Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN License
- BLS
- ACLS (AHA or ARC)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience
- At least 1 completed travel assignment required
- Epic charting experience required
Important Skills
- Strong telemetry monitoring skills
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
- Must successfully complete an EKG exam during compliance
- Excellent time management and prioritization
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Floating
Candidates must be willing to float to:
- Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Cardiac Telemetry Unit (CTU)
- Other inpatient units as needed
Schedule & Expectations
- Night Shift
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- No call requirements
- Contract may be subject to occasional low census based on unit needs
