Opportunity:

RN - ED / Trauma

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with varied start times between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period at unit discretion
• Holiday scheduling based on unit coverage needs
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Must have at least 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience
• Minimum 2 years of emergency room experience required
• May float between up to 4 facilities approximately 30 minutes apart, including mid-shift floats
• Personal vehicle required for travel between facilities
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (ENPC not accepted in place of PALS)
• Preferred certifications: TNCC and ATCN
• EMR system: Cerner
• Must be proficient in reading telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
• Must demonstrate competency in Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion through SIMs Lab (pass/fail)
• Maintaining sterile field is required and strictly evaluated during SIMs Lab
• Must pass a Day 1 orientation exam (study guide provided prior to start)
• Natural hair color required and no facial piercings permitted
• Men must be clean shaven for fit testing
• Scrub color: Navy
• Unit includes 36 acute beds and 54 subacute beds with 6 trauma bays
• Common patient diagnoses include trauma, chest pain, and spinal cord injuries; burns and pediatric cases are transferred out
• Ventilators managed by respiratory therapy
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7; pharmacist in the ER 10 hours per day
• Minimum of 2 MDs on-site with up to 8 physicians plus midlevel providers and anesthesia available
• 2 to 3 shift floor-specific orientation provided

Facility:

This Level 1 Trauma Center is a high-volume acute care facility treating approximately 88,000 patients per year, or 250 to 300 patients daily. The emergency department is supported by robust ancillary services including 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy coverage, with a dedicated pharmacist on-site in the ER for 10 hours each day. The facility holds certifications as a Chest Pain Center and Spinal Cord Traumatic Brain Injury center and operates across multiple campuses including main and satellite emergency department locations.
