Description

Opportunity:

CVPICU RN

Job Details:

• Work 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule with holiday rotation
• May float within scope to meet facility needs including NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Stepdown units
• Traveler may be cancelled one shift per 2 weeks
• 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required
• Cardiovascular and Pediatric experience required
• VAD experience highly preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: PALS and BLS (American Heart Association only)
• Preferred certification: ACLS (American Heart Association only)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Care for patients with congenital heart disease across all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• Perform and assist with cardiac surgery, Ventricular Assist Devices, Heart Transplant, cardiac catheterization, and related medical diagnoses
• Provide ECMO/CRRT and additional complex supportive therapies
• VAD training required upon arrival to unit
• Required skills include: antiarrhythmics, care of ventilated patients, central line blood draw, central line/implanted line care, congenital heart disease/repair, CRRT, continuous sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, post cardiac surgery, and tracheostomy care
• Special equipment includes: ECMO, CRRT, Berlin Hearts, HeartMate3, Impella, and VAD
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more

Facility:

This is a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet Hospital with 820 total staffed beds. The Pediatric Cardiothoracic ICU is a Gold Beacon Award-winning 29-bed unit and serves as the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in the state, ranking #4 in the nation and #1 for outcomes. The unit maintains an average daily census of 26 patients and cares for a blend of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support services are available including respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, pediatric pharmacists, and pediatric palliative care.
