Opportunity:
RN - MedSurg | Neuro
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekends required as needed
• Holidays required as needed
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
• 34-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit
• Common diagnoses include stroke, spine/back surgeries, cranial surgeries, neck surgeries, medical neuro disorders, neuro intervention procedures, Guillain-Barré, Myasthenia Gravis, seizures, and EEG monitoring
• Average patient length of stay is 2-5 days
• Neuroscience NPs staff 24/7 to provide support for all neuro surgery and neuro intervention patients
• Charge RN on each shift with no assignment; House Supervisor supports the entire hospital
• CNA support available at a 1:8 ratio
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, and Trachs with RT available as a resource
• Charting system: EPIC
• Floating required to support all Treasure Valley Med-Surg areas; travelers are first to float
• No specific scrub color required as long as clean and professional
• Orientation includes 2 days of unit/department-specific orientation plus a didactic day with a unit-based educator
• Minimum 2 years of experience with a solid MedSurg or Tele background required; stroke experience preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome
• BSN required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC), NIHSS
Facility:
This acute care facility is the only site for neuro surgery in the region, serving a large geographic area and providing specialized neuroscience services. The unit operates with strong multidisciplinary support, including 24/7 Neuroscience NP coverage, charge nurses on every shift, and assistant managers available during both day and night shifts. The facility is equipped with modern respiratory therapy equipment and is transitioning to telemetry monitoring capabilities to further enhance patient care.
