Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse with ICU experience to join our Float Pool. This position requires the flexibility to provide care across various critical care and medical-surgical units. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a larger facility and the ability to handle high-acuity patients.

Essential Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience, with at least 18 months of strong performance.
• Facility Size: Must have experience in a facility with 400 beds or more.
• Travel Experience: Previous travel nursing experience is preferred but first-time travelers with the required experience can be considered.
• Charting System: Proficiency in Epic is required.
• Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • CCRN (preferred)

Skills and Competencies

• IV therapy and initiation of IVs
• Management of arterial lines and blood products
• Care of ventilated patients and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) usage
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Emergency medication administration and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Neurological monitoring including ICP monitoring
• Experience with CRRT and EVD preferred
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Phlebotomy and care for surgical wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Job Details

• Shift: Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00 - 07:30)
• Patient Age Groups: Adults and Geriatrics
• Daily Census: 24 beds total in the adult ICU
• Weekend Shifts: Minimum of 6 weekend shifts every 6-week period
• Floating Requirements: Float to Medical-Surgical/Tele, PACU, and overflow units as needed

Additional Information

Candidates must pass a basic EKG exam during the first day of orientation to successfully continue with the onboarding process. The unit includes a variety of patient diagnoses and operates in a comprehensive transplant center, making transplant and trauma experience preferred.
