Description
Start Date: July 27, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Specialized acute hemodialysis unit with 9 stations plus one isolation station
- Patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2 depending on acuity and treatment location
- Work with Fresenius T hemodialysis machines and Baxter peritoneal dialysis equipment
- No float requirement; self-scheduling system for optimal work-life balance
- Comprehensive 24-hour orientation including ICU/offsite and dialysis room training
- Scrubs provided by facility
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience
- Recent acute hemodialysis experience (within 1 year) with Fresenius equipment required
- Recent peritoneal dialysis experience (within 1 year) with Baxter equipment required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS and CDN or CNN certifications preferred
- Current North Carolina or Compact State RN license
- Day shift candidates need acute hemodialysis experience; CAPD experience is helpful
- Night shift candidates must be competent with cycler, CAPD, obtaining PD fluid samples, and hemodialysis
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Patient Population:
- End stage renal disease on dialysis
- Chronic kidney disease progression to hemodialysis
- Acute kidney injury
- Peritoneal dialysis failure or infection requiring change of modality
- Transplant rejection requiring hemodialysis
- ICU/PCU patients on ventilators with titratable IV drips and airborne isolation precautions
Clinical Environment:
- Two dialysis shifts per day with patients transported via Epic system
- ICU/PCU bedside treatments provided at 1:1 ratio for critically ill patients
- Charting performed using Epic Dimensions with Pyxis medication system
- Interdisciplinary team support including respiratory services, pharmacy, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
- Voalte phone communication system for nurse-to-nurse verbal reports

Additional Information:
- Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team as needed
- May be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
- Up to 7 days of requested time off auto-approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- No RTO requests allowed during first week or after contract signing
- Pre-start online modules required (8-10 hours for acute care) using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted with rate differential
