Description
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with weekend rotation and holidays as needed. 4:1 patient ratio with 24 hours of orientation.
Highlights:
- Work on a 25-bed neurosurgery general care unit serving adult and geriatric patients with complex neuro conditions
- Manage diverse case mix including post-surgical spine and brain cases, stroke patients, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Join a Magnet-designated facility recognized as Wisconsin's leading hospital and ranked among the nation's top teaching institutions
- Part of a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program treating the most complex stroke cases in the state
- Collaborate with a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing evidence-based, patient and family centered care
Requirements:
- Current RN license (Wisconsin state license or compact license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Neuro Medical-Surgical/Telemetry within the last 3 years required
- Epic charting system experience required
- BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- Must successfully pass telemetry exam prior to start (strict passing criteria apply)
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must reside 50 miles or more from facility
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Pre/post neurosurgery care, cerebrovascular accident (CVA) management
- Spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury care
- Central line management, PICC line care, IV therapy
- Blood product administration, heparin and IV insulin protocols
- Tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management
- Wound care including wound vac therapy
- PCA pump management and pain control
