Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Patient ratios of 1:3-4. Every other weekend required. Float to sister ICCU unit as needed. Contract length of 13 weeks or longer available.

Highlights:

• ICU stepdown unit with 20 beds and average daily census of 18 patients
• Operates similarly to an ICU environment with strong emphasis on critical drip management
• Epic EMR and Pyxis medication management systems
• Patient population includes post-rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, and post-operative patients across multiple specialties
• Manages single vasoactive drips including Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, and Cardene
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of progressive care or step-down nursing experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• North Carolina or Compact RN license (pending acceptable at submission)
• Extensive experience required with: arterial line management, titrating vasoactive drips, telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, central line and PICC management, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, blood product administration, IV insulin and heparin protocols
• Proficiency in conscious sedation and IV starts
• Experience managing patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
