Description
Start Date: Upon completion of credentialing (60-90 days)
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Choose between 4x10 hour shifts (6:45 AM - 5:15 PM) or 3x12 hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM); includes weekday and weekend on-call duties (typically one weeknight and one weekend per week); 80 guaranteed hours per two-week period; 5-6 cardiac/thoracic cases per day
Highlights:
- High-volume cardiac and thoracic surgery program with robotic capabilities
- Proficiency required in vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting techniques
- Blocked schedule options available for discussion during interview
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Cerner EMR system in use
- May float within the facility as needed
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Certified Surgical First Assistant with cardiac specialty
- Current certification from ABSA (American Board of Surgical Assistants), NBSTSA, or NCCSA required
- BLS certification through American Heart Association required
- West Virginia or Compact state license (pending license accepted for submission)
- Demonstrated expertise in cardiac first assisting, including CABG procedures
- Proficiency with robotic surgery systems, including Da Vinci Xi platform
- Experience with endoscopic vein harvesting and related techniques
- Two professional references from managers or charge nurses within the past two years
- Permanent address located at least 75 miles from facility
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
Important Credentialing Information:
- Medical Affairs credentialing process requires 60-90 days; candidates must have flexible start dates
- Full documentation file due by noon on the Monday prior to orientation
- Orientation held every other Thursday
- Non-billable facility modules required prior to start (2-6 hours completion time)
