CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
ARRT Certification in Radiologic Technology with Advanced Registry in CT — must be current and valid.
BLS (Basic Life Support) — required for all technologists.
Additional certifications such as ACLS may be preferred but are not mandatory unless specified.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Join Advocate Southeast as a CT Technologist and become an integral part of a high-volume radiology department renowned for its comprehensive imaging services. You will operate state-of-the-art Siemens CT scanners, perform a variety of advanced imaging procedures, and support patient diagnosis and care in a hospital housing 373 licensed beds, including acute and inpatient rehab units.
Your responsibilities will include performing vascular, multi-phase, stroke, and colorectal imaging, including CT-guided invasive procedures. You will collaborate closely with medical staff to deliver exceptional patient care and ensure accurate, high-quality imaging results. The department also conducts cardiac CT imaging on the day shift, seven days a week.
The hospital’s environment is dynamic, with an inpatient census of around 400 patients, and conducts an estimated 130 studies daily. You will work in a state-of-the-art facility equipped with Siemens Definition AS 40, Siemens Force, and Siemens Edge scanners, along with Bayer/Medrad Power Injectors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform high-quality CT scans including venous and arterial phase, multi-phase, stroke perfusion, and invasive procedures guided by CT.
- Start peripheral IVs and administer contrast agents safely.
- Work with anesthesia for specific cases when needed.
- Support patient care by providing courteous guest services and transport within the hospital.
- Document procedures accurately in the EMR system (EPIC) and ensure all images are appropriately stored and sent via PACS (Philips iSite).
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with Radiology Nursing staff and other team members for optimal patient outcomes.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist with recent CT experience.
- Proficiency in starting IVs, venous and arterial phase scanning, multi-phase protocols, and stroke imaging.
- Familiarity with CT-guided invasive procedures and supporting anesthesia needs.
- Knowledge of TeraRecon software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Certified).
- Advanced certification in CT (ARRT).
- Previous experience in a high-volume hospital radiology department.
- Experience with Siemens CT scanners and related imaging equipment.
