Coeur d’Alene is the largest town in the Idaho panhandle, located on Lake Couer d'Alene in the northwestern part of the state. It's best known for its spectacular scenery and opportunities for outdoor adventure, particularly water sports. Lake cruises, sailing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, fishing, swimming and just about everything else enjoyed in or on the water are possible here. Golfers rejoice with five golf courses within the city limits and nearly another dozen within 20 miles. In the winter, skiing is a favorite pursuit, enjoyed at three resorts boasting over 120 runs total. Downtown offers a fantastic food scene to indulge in after outdoor pursuits, with many eateries featuring dishes using locally sourced ingredients and plenty of locally made beer and wine venues. Shopping enthusiasts can browse over 100 shops along Sherman Avenue and Front and Lakeside streets.
