Job Title

Registered Nurse – SICU

Location

New Orleans, LA | Surgical ICU

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Every Other Weekend Expected

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Surgical ICU setting at a 1:2 patient ratio
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring, and drip titration
  • Manage IV therapy including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management
  • Provide care for ventilated patients including chest tube insertion, removal, and ongoing management
  • Support pre/post cardiac catheterization intervention and post cardiac surgery recovery
  • Administer Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) as indicated

Required Qualifications

  • Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submittal
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS — AHA certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Surgical ICU specialty setting
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR is required
  • First-time travelers will not be accepted for this position
  • Candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as indicated on driver's license) to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted
  • NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have been separated for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Liver, kidney, or pancreas transplant recovery experience
  • Heart or lung transplant recovery experience
  • LVAD/RVAD management experience
  • High-acuity ICU background
