C-CATODSW (NASW) - Certified Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs Social Worker

The Certified Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs Social Worker (C-CATODSW) is a professional credential for social workers specializing in addiction and substance abuse treatment. This certification, offered by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), validates a social worker's expertise in providing direct services to clients affected by alcohol, tobacco and other drug dependencies. The C-CATODSW certification is for social workers involved in assessment, treatment planning, intervention and prevention strategies in the substance abuse field.

Currently, NASW has paused new applications for this certification, and it may only be renewed by existing holders.

Renewal must occur every 2 years. To apply for renewal, applicants must:

• Submit a copy of their current social work license

• Complete continuing education

• Complete renewal application with CE documented on the form

• Submit renewal fee

Renewal Fees

• $95 for all NASW members in good standing

• $350 for nonmembers

The continuing education requirement for C-CATODSW certification renewal is 20 contact hours within the past 2 years.
