C-CATODSW (NASW) - Certified Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs Social Worker

The Certified Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs Social Worker (C-CATODSW) is a professional credential for social workers specializing in addiction and substance abuse treatment. Eligibility

• Master’s degree in social work from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited graduate program

• 180 contact hours of professional continuing education (CE) related to addiction and substance abuse

• 2 years (equivalent of 3,000 hours) of documented paid, supervised post-MSW experience of clinical experience with an agency/organization that provides treatment to those whose lives are adversely affected by substance use disorders

• Current state clinical social work license

• Adherence to the NASW Code of Ethics and the NASW Standards for Continuing Professional Education

The continuing education requirement for C-CATODSW certification renewal is 20 contact hours within the past 2 years.
