Frequently asked questions

Do I need an NASW certification if I already have a state social work license?

The NASW specialty certification does not take the place of state licensure that is required for practice. The C-CYFSW certification designates those professionals with evidence of additional knowledge and experience in the field.

Where can I locate NASW offered CE programs?

The NASW maintains a list of conferences, workshops, and learning events on the NASW CE Portal.

May I use the required CE hours for my state license renewal for my certification travel?

The NASW allows for CE hours completed for state license renewal to also be applied to the C-CYFSW renewal as long as the CE is directly related to the client population.
