Education: Graduate of an School of Professional Nursing as evidenced by licensure in the state of Texas under the BNE or compact agreement Orientation and training will be provided that is specific to unit until able to function independently and demonstrates proficiency in basic skills. Experience: Knowledgeable in basic nursing skills. Proficient in drug types, interactions and reference materials. Knowledgeable to give medications and perform duties of an RN. Specific knowledge of medical terminology to be able to understand carry out physician orders. Specific knowledge of the basic principles of the nursing field and their applications to be able to understand and carry out the duties of a staff nurse. General knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, and grammar to be able to do drug calculations and properly document patient care. Specific knowledge of nursing principles and patient care procedures in order to communicate properly with patients, staff, and physicians. To assure physician orders are carried out effectively. Proficient in all aspects of nursing care for area assigned. Continuing effort to stay abreast of continually changing techniques and procedures. Licenses/Certificates: Current Texas Licensure to practice professional nursing. Current BCLS certification or obtained during the first week of orientation NRP within 1st year of hire for NICU/Transition/L&D Nurse Assignment ACLS for L&D & Overseers within 1st year of hire
