Did a local contract on KM9 - cardiac medicine floor, excellent management and great, friendly staff, floated on occasion but not bad. Ratios were 3-4:1 on days, 4-5:1 on nights. Did rotating days to evening shift 11-11, was awesome. Renewed my local contract 4 times. Would highly recommend this floor to work on.

They use an emr they developed. Archaic! They are finally going to Epic June 2024. Pro: staff is pleasant, patient ratios 1:1 or 1:2. The hospital doesn't have any stepdown units, so there are mostly imc pts and travelers don't get the sickest pts,  ie. CRRT. CON: constantly floating. Also, they float you outside of your specialty, but they will generally give you the least sickest pt, the cost of parking during the day is ridiculous, $24.50-43.00 per day.

I would have extended until they didn’t need me anymore however the hospital doesn’t want to pay travelers a living wage/stipend to be able to survive in Boston. You need a minimum of $2200/wk because cost of living is so high here. It’s $40/day to park, rent is $2k or more a month for a room- not even your own place. Food prices compared to what I pay back home are also increased significantly. Think about this before traveling to Boston.

Outside of the OR, BI 100% practices wage theft to travelers and their staff. It’s just accepted practice and the agency that represented me for that contract AYA, was completely complicit. I refused to change my time logs and they kept pressuring me to do so.

The job isn’t hard. The staff is terrible. They dislike travelers and are very vocal about it. They go above and beyond to make their travelers want to leave as fast as they came in.
