Kindred Hospital Dallas Central and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is a 74-bed hospital offering 60 long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) beds and 14 acute inpatient rehabilitation beds. The LTACH provides the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital but treats chronically, and critically ill patients with specialized care who require an extended stay in a hospital setting, including one negative pressure room. 

Our 14-bed ARU is designed for people who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment or illness and like the LTACH, we partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness.

Responsible for the management and communication of denials/appeals received from third party payers, managed care companies, and/or government entities/auditors related to medical necessity and/or level of care

Minimum Qualifications:

* Ability to project a professional image
* Apply professional standards of practice in the work environment to both internal and external customers
* Knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance requirements, hospital policies and procedures, and third party requirements
* Familiar with medical terminology
* Strong understanding and working knowledge of Medicare and Commercial admission regulations
* Familiar with third-party admission and continued stay criteria
* Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.)

Education and/or Experience:

* A minimum of two years of Utilization Review/Case Management experience in either a managed care or hospital setting is required
* A minimum of two years' experience in the denial and appeal process preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

* RN license, in good standing and maintained current throughout employment
* CCM, preferred

* Good interpersonal skills
* Proof of current CPR
* Must have good organizational skills, time management skills and analytical ability in order to interpret information and carry out duties independently
* Must be cooperative and have the desire to be a team player.

Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing

Licensure:

Current State license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse, current Driver's License.

Experience:
