Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the respiratory, medical and nursing plans of care
• Ensures appropriate operations of specialized equipment through the continuous monitoring of the patient condition and all related equipment
• Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases
• Measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function
• Demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to respond promptly to changes in workload or to make adjustments in assignments as needed to achieve optimal productivity, efficacy and quality patient care
• Demonstrates familiarity with electronic charting
• Establishes and maintain working relations with physicians and other health care personnel
• Performs a variety of tasks
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
