The ratios for higher acuity are typically 4:1 and ICU 2:1. Staffing is not good they are alway pulling from other units to cover staffing needs, thus creating the  other units short. Charge seems to have 2-4 patients depending on the acuity, which I feel defeats the purpose of having a charge if they have a full patient load. 
Staff and travelers are helpful but there’s a lot of cliques. Staff can and will smile in your face and turn and report something they don’t like to the manager. 
Weekend stocking of supplies and snacks and drinks are non existent. You have to be creative for your hypoglycemic patients when there’s not juice or milk available.

      <p>American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Navigator with a current DC license and oncology or radiation medicine background.</p>
      
            <h2>Responsibilities</h2>
            <ul><li>Position is based in a Radiation Medicine department in a hospital setting</li><li>Primary patient population consists of adults undergoing cancer treatment, specifically radiation therapy</li><li>Shifts rotate between 1300-2100 and 1200-2030, Monday through Friday</li><li>Main duties include care management during outpatient radiation therapy visits</li><li>Charting is completed using Cerner EMR</li><li>Role includes patient education, wound care, toxicity assessment, and addressing social needs during radiation treatment</li><li>Expected to respond to acute events such as anaphylaxis, ATLS, sepsis, and tracheostomy care</li><li>Office duties include chart preparation, disability forms, pharmacy communication, and telephone triage</li><li>Flu vaccine is required for all employees</li><li>First two weeks require full availability; maximum of 7 days requested time off per 13-week contract is highly preferred</li><li>Returning staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before applying as a traveler</li><li>Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a different rate</li></ul>
