Tanner Medical Center Carrollton

ICU Manager, Nancy Harris is amazing! She is a leader that values her staff, both FT and Traveler equally, both on a professional and personal level. In orientation we were told that Tanner treats their travelers as family and I found that with exception to a few individuals, Tanner was a great work experience.

No Cons to the facility, however.. Carrollton is a "Big-Little" town in a very rural setting. There is no real "down-town" area if you are the type that enjoys nightly activities or "trendy" areas. I-20 traffic to and from Atlanta is horrendous if you are not familar with Atlanta area traffic. I would not recommend staying east of the 285 loop unless you are willing to drive in at 4-5am for a 7am shift. A large percentage of patients have a lower educational background and you must be able to explain things in a very simplistic yet effective manner. The area is like most of America, and does not tolerate "progressive" ideas. Asking someone a question like "What are your pronouns" will get you either a dumb look or you'll deeply offend someone. These people will return the care and compassion you show, In my 6 months there I have never had so many patients and families bring me food and cards as I did at Tanner.
