Description
Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Must have 2 years of Med Surg experience required
• Must have EPIC experience
• Required certifications: BLS and EKG certification
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• BSN degree required
• 5 weekend shifts required in a 6-week period
• Holiday shifts required if there is a need
• Must be willing to take students and may precept new travelers
• Float between Med Surg 5, Med Surg 6, and 9-bed overflow unit
• May float to other system facilities approximately 8 miles away or to ER for holds or 1:1 assignments
• Any color scrubs allowed as long as clean and professional
• 3 days general orientation including EPIC training and online modules
• 2 shifts on unit with preceptor
• Care for patients with total joints, orthopedic surgeries, spine surgeries, urology procedures, general surgeries, GYN overflow, and medical overflow patients
• Common drips include heparin, PCAs, and morphine drips
• Work with RT equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow
• Virtual telemetry techs available with transition to Philips monitoring system

Pros
The staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful. The facilities are pretty decent/updated. Thhe Nampa campus is fairly new. It's a beautiful and clean city/area with plenty to do to enjoy your off days.
Cons
I didn't know before starting my contract that they float travelers 1st, they will float you between facilities and it can happen at any point during your shift. They said it was self-scheduling in my interview but it's more hybrid. You can request days you want but they ultimately schedule travelers for whatever. They give perm staff 1st pick and travelers schedule last with the prn people instead of merging travelers into the scheduling groups with full time staff.

I am an Adult Cardiac Sonographer and I have been traveling for almost 3 years now and pretty much all the time with ADEX Healthcare staffing. I always look around for all the options as most of travelers do, but end up with this company, because They don’t fail me! Good competitive rates and always attention. Vincent Poast is the guy you want to deal with no matter what is your experience in traveling and profession. He always explains all pros and cons of a contract. I feel like he is on my side compared to other recruiters. The most important part for me that he always answers my calls and texts no matter if it’s a weekend or after hours! Also, if he can’t help me directly, he would get a ADEX staff member who resolves an issue right the way. The whole team has been very helpful for almost 6 contracts now. Oh, and another very important thing for me that Vince never pushes to get into a contract and bothers like a lot of other recruiters that calling and texting day and night. He lets you decide what you really want !
