Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Maintain 1:5 nurse to patient ratio, up to 1:6 at times with ratio adjusted down for higher acuity patients
• Work in fast-paced orthopedic/medical environment on 31-bed unit
• Care for orthopedic patients, post-op total joints, and general med-surg overflow patients
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• Must have experience at larger facility with high volume surgeries and high acuity patients
• Must be comfortable with lines and chest tubes
• Required to titrate heparin drips and may start amiodarone drips before patient transfer
• Monitor telemetry for all patients with central monitor station support
• Charge nurse takes light patient assignment or full load when needed
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
• Holiday rotation with regular staff
• Float within skill set between all med-surg units
• No call or standby requirements
• Dress code requires solid color professional scrubs
• First day orientation includes paperwork, system logins, and unit tour
• Two additional shifts with preceptor
• Chart using Epic Systems EpicCare Inpatient EMR
• BLS certification required
• Fingerprint requirement with 10-day remote process or in-person at Jackson or Grenada campus
