Opportunity:

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Must work holidays and days around holidays as needed
• 2 years stepdown experience in acute care setting required without exception
• Must live 75+ miles from facility (driver's license verification required)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• 3-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• Manage cardiac stepdown patients including post-operative day 1 CABG, cardiovascular surgery patients
• Work with telemetry monitoring using Phillips system - must read and interpret strips
• Administer cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin
• Manage patients with BiPap, CPAP, vapotherm, and high flow oxygen (no full ventilators)
• Handle fast room turnover with average census of 32-38 patients
• May discharge and admit 12-16 patients in one shift on busy days
• Float to ICU for stepdown patients or task in ICU if unable to take ICU-level patients
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred
• Must have natural colored hair, no fake nails/shellac, no facial piercings, no visible tattoos
• Wear Caribbean Blue scrubs
• Use MEDITECH electronic medical record system

The stepdown unit is divided into two areas: one focused on cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery patients, and another for smaller procedures, drips, and CHF patients. The facility maintains high standards for cardiac care with specialized teams including PICC team and IV team support.
