Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend - Days work Saturday/Sunday, Nights work Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday schedule: Every other holiday worked into permanent staff holiday rotation
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5 (Med-Surg acuity may be 1:6)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs required, jackets (if worn) must also be navy blue
• Must provide unexpired copy of driver's license with submission
• Cannot submit to more than one position at a time within the WVU system
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must be able to titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin
• Work with ventilation equipment including BiPap, CPAP, and high flow
• May float to ICU as helping hands
• Two shifts of floor-specific orientation with preceptor
• Common patient diagnoses include heavy cardiac cases, dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from ICU
• Work on 28-bed private stepdown unit serving as central monitor station for entire hospital
• Electronic medical record system: EPIC (transitioning from Cerner)
• BSN not required
• License required for submission

This acute care hospital features a 28-bed private stepdown unit that serves as the central monitoring station for the entire facility. The hospital maintains 24/7 in-house coverage including hospitalist services, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy support. The facility has an ICU with intensivist coverage seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with on-call coverage after hours. The stepdown unit is well-equipped with telemetry monitoring capabilities and provides comprehensive care for patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and treatment.
