RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Provide perioperative nursing care in the operating room setting
• Must take call per unit rotation schedule
• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• ACLS certification required upon hire OR must hold active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire
• Recent OR experience required
• CNOR certification preferred
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills required
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care plans
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical coordinators, and surgical technicians
• Maintain sterile fields and direct proper care, handling, and sterilization of supplies and instruments
• Verify patient identification, consent forms, and operative procedures before surgery
• Apply principles of aseptic practice and oversee preparation of surgical supplies and equipment
• Maintain accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policies
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy per physician orders
• Assess patient pain levels and reassess effectiveness of pain control measures
• Complete thorough and timely documentation of patient care and responses
• Identify and label specimens and cultures according to established procedures
• Participate in patient/family teaching and discharge planning
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and maintain patient safety
