RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care plans
• Provide patient care based on established standards, protocols, and policies
• Perform patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by other team members
• Provide thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all patient data and interventions
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy according to physician orders
• Assess patient pain levels using numerical pain scale and reassess effectiveness of pain control
• Perform pre-admission testing on Surgical Day Care patients
• Conduct nursing assessments and coordinate ancillary testing for day surgery patients
• Perform blood draws and EKGs as needed
• Review pre-operative orders and consult with surgeons and anesthesiologists
• Review test results and communicate abnormalities to appropriate physicians prior to surgery
• Verify chart completeness including consent forms, H&P, and lab results
• Provide emotional support to patients undergoing surgery
• Initiate and document post-operative phone calls to Surgical Day Care patients
• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications required, IV certification preferred
• Minimum one year acute care nursing experience required
• Prior Surgical Day Care, PAT, Endoscopy, or OR experience preferred
• Proficiency in peripheral IV insertion and nursing assessment required
