RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
• Operating room nursing experience and CNOR certification strongly preferred
• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• ACLS certification required upon hire OR must hold active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire
• Conduct patient assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions and care plans
• Provide patient care based on established standards, protocols, policies and procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical coordinators and surgical technicians during surgical interventions
• Maintain sterile fields and direct proper care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments
• Verify patient identification, consent forms, operative procedures and sites before taking patients to operating room
• Apply principles of aseptic practice and oversee selection and preparation of supplies, equipment and instrumentation
• Maintain accurate sponge, needle and instrument counts according to policies and procedures
• Identify, label, care for and handle all specimens and cultures according to established procedures
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders and protocols
• Assess patient pain levels using numerical pain scale and reassess effectiveness of pain control
• Provide thorough, timely and accurate documentation of all pertinent data and therapeutic interventions
• Ability to function in environment with competing priorities required
• Excellent communication skills, multitasking ability and positive attitude essential
