Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 3x12 night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (4x12s available by request)
• Contract length up to 52 weeks available by request
• Must be comfortable working ALL PCU and MS units as a float nurse
• Staffing needs re-evaluated every 4 hours - may float 2-3 times per shift
• May be required to float to CRCH Inpatient Rehab
• PCU average patient ratio: 5:1 | MS average patient ratio: 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)
• Weekend requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• EPIC experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Must be experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titrating cardiac drips
• Capable of managing PCA and heparin protocols, administering IV insulin
• Background in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC) with cardiovascular experience required
• Must respond to emergencies via Rapid Response/Code teams
• Virginia State or Compact RN license required
• Accepts first-time travelers
• 24 hours of orientation provided

This is a 703-bed acute care teaching hospital and flagship facility that serves as the region's only Level I Trauma Center for both adults and pediatrics. The hospital is Magnet-designated for nursing excellence and affiliated with a medical school. It features advanced specialty care, a dedicated children's hospital, and is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams.
