Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 3x12 hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 4x12 hour shifts available upon request
• 13-52 week assignments available upon request
• Weekend requirement: Either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Patient ratios typically 1:5 with staffing goal of 1:4
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must have neuro PCU experience
• Floating required within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical level of care units
• 32 hours of orientation provided
• Clinical skills include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Medication administration including cardiac drips without titration
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown units
• Manage IV drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
• Care for stroke and neurology patients as well as general medicine overflow
• Remote telemetry monitoring with tele sitting for enhanced patient care coverage

The facility serves as a teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school and offers advanced specialty care including bariatric, trauma, and surgical services. The 12 West unit is a telemetry PCU specializing in stroke and neurology patients, operating as a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center with comprehensive interdisciplinary support services.
