Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Work 4x10 hour shifts from 10:00 PM to 8:30 AM with rotating start times as needed
• No weekends, no call, and no holidays required
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Float within scope to ICU, main PACU, PCU, MS, ER Holding as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:2 (preop may be 1:3)
• 40-hour orientation period
• Must have at least 2-3 years Level 1 ICU experience required
• Open to reviewing candidates with Level 2 ICU experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Navy blue scrubs required
• EPIC charting system experience preferred
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• Provide critical care for post-operative patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
• Recovery care for patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgeries
• Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
• Night shift must learn preoperative patient workup
• Care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• Skills required: dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients

This is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,273 total staffed beds. The facility operates a high-acuity PACU with 38 patient bays that runs 24/7, serving an average daily census of 70-90 patients. The unit features its own PCT/transport team and provides interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams. This healthcare organization maintains modern equipment and comprehensive specialty services to support complex post-operative care and critical interventions.
