Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work in Liver Care/Transplant IMC/PCU unit providing pre- and post-operative liver care
• Maintain 3:1 patient ratio for days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend or equivalent weekend coverage required
• 36-hour orientation period required
• Float within scope if needed
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required with transplant experience needed
• Travel experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS
• EPIC charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Virginia or compact state license must be in hand at time of submittal
• Must adhere to natural nail policy
• Skills required include MS/Tele, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, feeding tube care, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, cardiac drips management, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, IV insulin protocols, phlebotomy, wound care, and post-op surgical care
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with liver transplant and transplant hepatology diagnoses
• Work with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Complete required modules during orientation week on VCU Learning Exchange

This major medical center operates a specialized 24-bed Progressive Care Unit focused on liver transplant and transplant hepatology services. The facility provides comprehensive pre- and post-operative liver care with extensive interdisciplinary support services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services. The organization maintains high standards for patient care and utilizes EPIC charting systems throughout their operations.
