Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Work in medical surgical telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Day/evening patient ratios are 5 to 1 (stretch 6-7), night ratios are 6-7 to 1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Every other weekend required
• Float to MS, ED, ICU (stable patients), and acute brain injury units (stable patients)
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• 1 year of recent experience required
• First time travelers accepted
• EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement
• NY license required in hand to submit
• Must live more than 75 miles from facility
• Block scheduling available but not guaranteed
• Scrubs: Navy blue/white
• Skills required: MS/Tele, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE
• Patient diagnoses include: cardiac disease, stroke, infection, pain, PE
• Special equipment: bladder scanners, tele, EKG machines, lifepacks
• 27-bed unit with daily census of 27 patients
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
• PCT staff available for vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• In-house phlebotomy team handles peripheral lab draws; nursing responsible for PICC lines and central lines
