Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work every other weekend as required
• Patient ratio of 6:1 during days, nights, and weekends
• 40 hours of orientation required
• 1 year of nursing experience required
• Previous surgical experience required for this fast-paced inpatient surgical unit
• BLS certification required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Care for patients aged 12 and above including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Will accept pediatric surgical patients aged 12 and above depending on surgical procedure
• Cannot guarantee block scheduling but can try to group shifts together if available
• Must be comfortable with telemetry monitoring, post-angiogram care, post-MI care, accessing/managing ports, peripheral nerve block catheters, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, heparin and insulin administration, PCA pumps, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation
• RTO policy applies: expect to work holidays based on assignment length
• Zero tolerance policy for THC - medical marijuana cards not accepted
• Fit testing required with facial hair restrictions

This healthcare facility operates a 24-bed medical surgical unit specializing in various surgical procedures including general surgery, abdominal surgery, urological surgery, orthopedic surgery, hysterectomy, mastectomy, spine surgery, and bariatric surgery. The facility maintains a daily census of 18 patients and provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services.
