RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work in a 14-bed cardiac surgery intensive care unit with adult and geriatric patients
• Care for 1-2 patients with diagnoses including CABGs, valve repair/replacements, aortic surgeries, VADs, total artificial hearts, and heart/liver/kidney transplants
• Handle thoracic cases, esophagectomy, and vascular surgeries
• Perform invasive hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive IV medications
• Provide post-operative recovery care and oversight for circulatory assist devices
• Work with specialized equipment including CRRT, ECMO, Impella, IABP, Heartmate, and Heartware devices
• Self-scheduling with every other weekend coverage required
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Must have minimum 2 years of experience with CSICU/CVICU experience at Level 1 facility required
• EPIC charting experience required with no exceptions
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Skills required: Conscious sedation, pulmonary artery lines, telemetry, ventilators
• Must be proficient in CRRT, IABP, post-op cardio-thoracic surgery recovery, and ECMO
• Level I trauma experience and academic facility experience required
• BSN preferred
• Virginia or compact state license required at time of submission
• Natural nail policy in effect
• Float within scope if needed
• Complete required modules during orientation week

The unit features state-of-the-art technology and equipment to support critically ill cardiac patients, with extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams.
