RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Work staggered shifts with start times varying between 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
• Unit closes at 7:30 PM with last two nurses staying to recover late cases
• Night shift call from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 2-3 weekends every 6 weeks required
• Call schedule: 5-6 night shifts in 6 weeks (on-call from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Patient ratios: 1:2 during day shifts
• Float occasionally to Pre-op when needed
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for three 12-hour shifts, 48 hours for four 12-hour shifts, 40 hours for all shifts less than 12 hours
• Standard contract length is 14 weeks
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Massachusetts license must be in hand at time of submission
• 2 years of acute PACU experience required
• Pediatric experience preferred but not required for infant care
• Cerner documentation system experience preferred but not required
• Prepare patients for surgery and recover them safely post-operatively
• Care for patients across all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults
• Handle cases from various specialties: Orthopedic, Gynecology, Urology, General Surgery, Spine, Vascular, and some Ophthalmology
• Small pediatric population with most cases being tonsils and adenoids
• May receive pediatric emergency procedures from ED such as testicular torsion
• Will not be expected to manage pediatric ventilators

This healthcare facility operates a 27-bed PACU with 12 rooms and an average daily census of 20 patients. The facility provides comprehensive surgical services across multiple specialties and maintains modern equipment including Omnicell medication systems and Cerner documentation. The unit offers extensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services.
